// CHANGELOG
Murmur, every release.
What changed, in plain English. Back to Murmur
2.6.1
11 Sept 2026
- Fixed a macOS bug that hid the bundled presets. The installer put all 32 on your Mac, but Murmur looked for them in the wrong folder, so the browser came up empty. Update and they appear. Windows was never affected.
- If you copied the presets into your own preset folder to get around this, leave them there. Murmur shows one of each, so nothing appears twice.
2.6.0

Engine
- Layer B stands on its own. PITCH, POS, SIZE and SCAN each carry an AB/A/B scope, so one dial can move both layers, or either one alone.
- A density ratio chip under DENSITY thins layer B against layer A, so the morph layer can be a wisp over a full cloud.
- WALK gains a B SEQ row. Layer B steps through its own sequence instead of shadowing layer A.
- Two new morph modes. RESONATOR strikes a resonant body tuned to the note you play (give it long grains, that is where it sings). FOLLOW lets the loudness of layer B open and close layer A, so drums in B chop a pad in their own rhythm.
- The routing matrix grows from 16 slots to 64, and the 64 cost less than the 16 used to.
Workflow
- Every FX module carries its own AB/A/B chip, so reverb can sit on the morph layer alone while a filter eats the main sound and leaves it untouched.
- The FX rack is rebuilt as one aligned deck. Seven modules, one grid, no dead slots.
- Cloud gradients hold up to six colour stops, and a two colour gradient finally reads as two colours instead of merging into a third.
Fixes
- Stability and correctness fixes from two full review passes: routes no longer leak between presets, layer splits no longer bleed into each other, and the MORPH knob does what its mode name promises.
2.5.1
17 Aug 2026
- The Windows installer and the plug-in are code signed. Windows no longer shows the "Windows protected your PC" screen when you install Murmur, and your DAW no longer warns you the first time it scans it.
- Nothing else is different. Same engine, same presets, and your projects open exactly as they did.
- macOS is unaffected. It has been signed and notarised since launch.
2.5.0

Engine
- Slices can snap to a beat grid, so a drum loop chops to musical divisions.
- Transient slicing spreads slices across the whole sample instead of clustering them around one hit.
- G-FILTER and G-COMP: a filter and a compressor that shape every grain individually.
- LFOs are drawable. Sketch the exact shape you want, and sync the rate to the grain clock.
- Envelope slopes bend, and two new envelopes, ENV 2 and ENV 3, drag straight onto any knob.
- MORPH layer B carries its own read position, with LINK, TRAIL and PIN states, so layer A can move alone.
- Layer B gets slices of its own, independent of layer A.
Workflow
- MOTION grows into a paged panel, one page per job, instead of one crowded screen.
- CLEAR and DETECT on the slice grid: wipe it clean, or let Murmur place the slices for you.
- The FX rack opens to modulation, 25 destinations, plus a master bypass, a filter type switch and reverb pre delay.
- Nine starter templates that shape whatever sample you drop in, all playable on the free tier.
Fixes
- COHERE level matches its output, so it changes the character of a sound rather than its volume, and its strength now scales with detection confidence.
- COHERE no longer trips on certain filenames.
- Colour palette swatches sit where they belong.
2.4.1
12 Aug 2026
- The Windows installer now runs on ARM64 Windows as well as x64.
2.4.0
12 Aug 2026
- Murmur comes to Windows: Windows 10 and 11, VST3 and standalone.
- Update checks are per platform, so a Windows install is never offered a macOS installer.
- Every FX module holds normal gain staging, no more level jumps when a module switches on.
- Licence keys move to modern Ed25519 signing.
- Presets always carry their audio, and a cancelled sample import falls back cleanly.
- Stability and security pass from a full release audit: state saving, DSP edge cases and MIDI handling.
2.3.0
10 Aug 2026
- WALK step sequencer: author your own steps, or leave AUTO on and watch the live walk.
- REPEAT: a verbatim beat repeat, sitting with the SYNC rate controls.
- The free tier replaces the 3 day trial. The free version is complete and permanent, and a licence key unlocks the paid half mid session.
- New layout: wider and calmer, cloud on the left, controls on the right.
- Choose how many slices a sample has, and drag each boundary where you want it.
- Double click any knob to reset it to its default.
2.2.0
7 Aug 2026
- The grain cloud reads as one drifting body with real depth, not a scatter plot.
- Bigger waveform, sample zoom, and a higher cloud ceiling.
- The user manual ships, with every screenshot taken from the plugin itself.
- Licence entry lands in the plugin header.
- Fixes: jitter taper, playhead sync, faster sample loads, and stale audio after a preset change.
2.1.0
5 Aug 2026
- Hardening release: mono hosts, MPE and sustain pedal handling, and stricter input validation.
- Groundwork for the Windows version.
- Layout polish: the preset cluster sits centred in the header.
2.0.0
27 Jul 2026
- MORPH: blend a second sample into the cloud, with four morph modes.
- The FX rack arrives.
- Key match: tune any sample to the key you are working in.
- Gain staging overhauled across the whole engine.
