Effective 10 September 2026 · soundslikeyoumusic.com
Sounds Like You LTD is the controller of personal data described in this policy. It explains what we collect when you browse, create an account, purchase or download Products, join our mailing list, submit a review, or contact support.
Information We Collect
- Website and device data: request information such as IP address, browser, device type, approximate location, referring page, requested page, timestamps and security logs. Hosting and security providers may process this data even where it is not stored in our own analytics database.
- First-party analytics: if you consent, we record a random session identifier, pages and products viewed, referral and campaign parameters, general device class, new/returning status and events such as audio plays, cart activity, checkout, purchases, downloads, scrolling and time on page. This does not include your name or email and is not used to track you across unrelated websites.
- Session replay and heatmaps: if you consent to analytics, Microsoft Clarity records your interactions with our pages — mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, navigation, page content and general device and browser data — and stores identifiers in first-party cookies so a session can be replayed and aggregated into heatmaps. Clarity masks text entered into form fields by default. We use this only to find and fix usability problems.
- Account, order and delivery data: name, email, account identifiers, Products ordered, transaction and licence information, download history and support status. Stripe processes full payment-card and billing details; we generally receive transaction and customer details needed to fulfil and support the order, not your full card number.
- Communications: emails, support requests, reviews, mailing-list preferences and other information you choose to provide.
- AI support chat: chat messages, a session identifier and any email address or order details you provide. To answer a request, the service may match the email to order and download records. Do not include sensitive information or payment-card details.
- Country, for consent purposes: our CDN reports the country your connection comes from, which decides whether optional storage is off until you accept it or on until you switch it off. The country is used at that moment and not stored, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser switches optional storage off wherever you are. See our Cookie Policy.
- Browser storage and consent: cart contents, consent choices, session data and related preferences. See our Cookie Policy.
How and Why We Use It
We use personal data to operate the website; create and secure accounts; process, deliver and support orders; administer licences and downloads; answer enquiries; prevent fraud and misuse; maintain security; understand and improve our Products and marketing; comply with tax, accounting and legal duties; and send marketing where you have opted in.
Our legal bases under UK data-protection law are performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in running and securing the business and improving our services, and consent where required for analytics, marketing storage or direct marketing. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Who Receives Information
We share only what is reasonably necessary with service providers acting for us or providing their own related service, including:
- Stripe, our merchant of record (purchases are sold through its Onelink service), for checkout, payment, tax, fraud screening, payment support and refunds;
- our previous payment provider, which sold orders placed before 10 September 2026 as merchant of record;
- Supabase, for database, account, fulfilment, analytics and support infrastructure;
- Google’s Gemini service, where our AI support assistant processes chat messages to produce a response;
- Microsoft, if you consent to analytics, for Clarity session replay and heatmaps;
- Meta, if you consent to marketing technologies, to measure advertising and build advertising audiences;
- hosting, content-delivery, email and file-delivery providers; and
- professional advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement or a buyer of the business where legally required or reasonably necessary.
We do not sell your personal data. Links to other websites and third-party services are governed by their own privacy notices.
International Transfers
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to approved contractual clauses, or another lawful safeguard. You may contact us for more information about the safeguard relevant to your data.
Retention
We retain personal data only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected. Order, transaction and tax records are generally kept for the applicable legal and accounting period. Account and licence records are kept while the account or licence remains active and as needed to resolve disputes. Support conversations, security logs, analytics and marketing records are deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. We may retain a minimal record to honour an opt-out, prevent fraud or establish legal rights.
Your Rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent and unsubscribe from marketing at any time. These rights can have lawful exceptions, for example where records must be retained for tax or legal claims.
Contact us at support@soundslikeyoumusic.com to exercise a right. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within one month of receiving your request, as UK data-protection law requires. Where records must be kept for tax or legal reasons we will delete everything else and tell you what has been retained and why. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Security and Children
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, but no online system is completely secure. The website is not directed to children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, contact us.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. We will update the effective date and give additional notice where appropriate.
